Blouse: Inspyre @ Harris Scarfe
Skirt: Marks & Spencer
The moment I spotted this skirt at Marks and Spencer I knew I had to have it – it was too bright, too colourful, too… Emma Pillsbury to possibly say no!
I’ve mentioned before how Glee’s OCD clean-freak teacher is my newest fashion crush – her whimsical rainbow bright wardrobe always seems to leave me drooling, and judging from sites like WWWEPW (What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear) I’m not the only one.
This skirt is straight out of Emma’s wardrobe, and it sealed the deal on me taking a chance on ordering from the Great British Institution Marks And Spencer.
I’m so glad I did – the skirt’s wonderfully good quality; a fully lined pencil skirt in a thick wool blend with a textured weave. And the colour? Perfect. In true Pillsbury style I teamed it with an equally bright yellow cardigan, sweater guard, and a few other feature pieces…
Sweater Guard: Jackie D’s Retro Boutique
In other news, thanks to my housemate Bosun, the house has a wonderfully delicious-looking new herb garden!
We’re trialling locations at the moment, but this is the sunniest spot in our inner-city location, so we’ve got a bit of scenery for a change.
Great green skirt matched with yellow cardigan. What could be better?:=)
This is my FAVE outfit! It put a smile on my dial.
Beautiful close up of your face, too – you are very photogenic.
I really need to get some cardigans……my credit card just said ouch in anticipation.
BTW when are you going to debut the Levis?
Your blog is so cute and so is this particular outfit! I love the way Emma dresses in Glee; that’s exactly how I dressed in university. I’ve moved on to a wardrobe with more blues and reds but I still love to see colour in an ensemble. Fantastic daisy chain, have you seen the much-lamented TV show Pushing Daisies?
A from A + B in the Sea
Blues and reds are my favourites! I have this guilty little penchant for yellow though…
I LOVE Pushing Daisies, BTW. Love, love, love. Was crushed when the canceled it. Ned the Piemaker was such a spunk, and I totally coveted Chuck’s wardrobe.
I LOVE your sweater guards, both this one and the ones you’ve worn previously. And your cute little ball earrings! You are so very CUTE!
Thanks, Erin! The earring were such an impulse buy. I love them… I should definitely wear them more often!
Glad we did not bump into each other today – I am wearing my yellow Cocolatte cardigan too! Though in shamefully predictable style, it is with black t-shirt + jeans. Dreadfully cute though.
Yes you are! And besides, I’ve talked about my desire for us to dress like twinnies. Never too old. Never.
I love this so much! The colours are perfect for Spring (even if it does still feel like Winter!) xx
Thankyou, Bronny! Very Australian too, no? I feel like a walking, talking wattle tree!
One word “amazing!”
Aw, Thanks Monkey!
Your hair looks gorgeous in that second shot! Love the color of the skirt, especially with the contrasty yellow cardigan. Super!
Thanks, Bella! The hair’s not quite past my shoulders yet, which is kind of annoying! To be honest I keep looking back at the neat little bob from this time last year and thinking “hhmmmnnnnn…. maybe I don’t really NEED hair long enough for a ponytail”
Lilli, that skirt is perrrrrfect. The color is absolutely divine, and it looks awesome on you, especially the way you’ve styled it — yellow and green is such a wonderful, cheery combination. I am seriously considering ordering the skirt now, even with the £15 postage fee!
Thanks Anjali – The quality’s excellent, you could always rationalise the postage with more, er, things!
Love the skirt, love the sweater guard–but that blouse with the sweater and skirt; oh, honey, no.
LOL, oh well – you can’t please everyone! It’s definitely a statement unto itself. I don’t mind it though 😉
Love the green skirt!!
Thanks, Liz 🙂
now that’s unfair 😛 you found skirt i desire …
Girl, you look fabulous 🙂
It’s amazing, isn’t it? Such a vibrant green!
What else have you bought at Marks? I have never found anything in there for me…The green skirt is ACE!
I bought a blue skirt as well that I’m not sure I’m sold on. And lots and lots of awesome knickers!
You look fab, Lilli! I love that skirt with that ywllow cardi 🙂 And I love that that Marks and Sparks now deliver Down Under. Being an English lass I miss my M&S fixes now that I live in Australia.
Joy – I find you cannot beat M&S for underwear, tights & basic t-shirts – the best prices and quality around. Also their “Limited Collection” and “Autograph” range of clothes are far more on trend than a lot of their more run of the mill ranges aimed at the older (55-70yr) crowd. I tend to order from those collections quite often.
Thanks Jo! I lived in the UK for a year when I was 19, and I remember stocking practically my entire knickers drawer with their wares. I’m so pleased the quality’s still so good.
Jo & Lilli – Maybe I am missing a trick with M&S then… lol
Never bought underwear or anything at all for me in there, always presents for the older relatives hehehe Maybe I should give them a try, cos after seeing what Lilli was wearing I feel so tempted!
Lilli, I can’t seem to find that green skirt on the website at all 🙁 I shall try again later!
Jo – Where are you from in the UK?
Hey Joy – here we go 🙂
Hi Joy – I only just spotted your question! I’m orginally from a small town in Hampshire in the south of England but have lived in Sydney for a good few years now.
Hope you have some luck with M&S!
I love your ability to put yellow and green together and not look like an Australian cricketer. Fantastic outfit. I love the sweater guards too. Howzat!
LOL! I have to admit I did feel very patriotic! Thanks for commenting, Carly 🙂
Hi Lilli !!
I just wanted to let you know that you were mentioned in a German magazine: Maxi ! You, and Stephanie, and a girl from Finland and a german girl. You were not only mentioned, they wrote a whole page on you ! The article was about plus-size fashion bloggers. I hope I´ll be able to scan it the next couple of days. Let me know if you want it translated, too ;o)
I´m a regular reader of yours and am so happy you get mentioned so much.
Best wishes from Germany,
Thanks Mousette! I had the interview a little while ago, and I wasn’t sure when they were going to publish it. I’ve LOVE a copy of the scan, and the translation, if it wasn’;t enormous trouble! Thankyou so much for the offer 🙂
