Are these the grey ribbed tights I’ve been looking for for two years???
In the comments sections Jenni recommended I check out the grey tights at Sussan, and it made me think that maybe all my prejudices about self-branded hosiery were unfounded.
Buying one-size-fits tights from a straight-size retailer made me feel a little leery about whether they’d fit/hold their shape/be of decent quality, but Jenni certainly didn’t steer me wrong.
The tights are very soft and malleable – a squeeze to get on in the first place, but they loosened up well after the first few minutes. They didn’t fall down, and the waistband didn’t roll, and I haven’t put a finger through them (yet!).
They’re verrrrry long, which makes me wonder whether maybe I should have sized down (is it just me, or do the majority of pantyhose sizes seem to bear no relation to ass and thigh size, but only to length of legs?)
The length means that I had to hoik the excess up from my ankles once or twice a day, but it’s a trade-off I’ve willing to make.
In the “frou frou” department today I’m wearing my favourite sweater-guard from Jackie D’s Retro Boutique. What a lucky purchase that was – I’ve yet to find a set that I like as much.
Due to your cuteness I’ve been searching *everywhere* for cute sweater guards! I am yet to find the perfect one… In my opinion I wouldn’t say all tights relate to leg length. When tights say they go to 5’9 (my height) the crotch the halfway down my legs, no matter what. I normally need the XXL or whatever which is meant to be up to 5’10!
That sweater guard is gorgeous! 🙂

Great layering in gorgeous colors- something very hip and sixties yet modern about the look! Might check out the tights- didn’t even know sussan had tights. I have the issue of the waist band going up to my boobs as I’m so short waisted!
What a wonderful dress! I have throw pillows on my couch that have almost the exact same floral pattern.
“A Light Ribbing” Heh. Heh, heh. That’s kinda funny:) It’s always so great when one finally finds a clothing item one’s been looking for, for a long time!
I’ve been looking for grey ribbed tights for years too!!! I doubt that the Sussan ones will fit me though, I am too plus sized I think!! I might check them out though 🙂
You look great today BTW.
I went to buy the pretty lace petticoat style stockings from Target you featured a while ago but they only had a tall, and I am too short 🙁
Sussan is great for stockings.
You look lovely 🙂
I find the exact same thing when it comes to ass/thigh/legs ratio – baggy ankles are the absolute worst.
Such a cute outfit! You look utterly adorable and I love the autumnal colour palette! x
I bought a pair of purple tights from Sussan 3 or 4 years ago maybe even longer. THey have been worn and worn then washed and washed ad infinitum and still look like new or at least newish.
I need to go back and get some more in other colours. Best tights ever.
Somebody else has my style! Oh, you don’t know how happy you’ve made me ^-^ I’m now crushing on you with utmost intensity lol. Keep being beautiful!
The daisy sweater guard is PERFECT for that outfit! I’m so happy that you love it 🙂
Finally catching up on my blogs and what do I see on two of my favorites? Practically the same dress! The Sartorialist confirms your excellent taste. http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/2011/05/on-street-runstraat-amsterdam.html
Oooh! Good spotting! Thanks BKC 🙂
