If you follow me on Instagram you’ll already know this, but…  It’s back!

My “signature” fringe is back, and welcome to it.

It’s been over a year since I started growing it out, and I’m surprised by how much I missed it. It makes me feel bolder and more confident. Fake it til you make it, you know?

With the promise of spring in the air I’m trying to bring a bit more colour back into my outfits too. Going through the last few months I’ve realised that my default wardrobe has been tending towards blacks, greys and navy. It’s pretty uncharacteristic of me; I’ve always sung the praises of prints and pretty colours, even in winter.

Anyway, just a short one tonight because it’s getting late and I don’t have a lot to say but I just really wanted to show off my new ‘do.

How about you, are you contemplating a new look for spring?

  1. As we head into autumn in the northern hemisphere I fear my very short hair will necessitate scarves, hats and hoods. Over the last year I have allowed my coloured and high-lighted hair to be its natural salt and pepper (with the accent on salt in the front of my hair line!). It was a bold move for me, but with quick growing hair, it felt like I was constantly battling my roots. My hair dresser hates the colour, but that’s his problem.

Enough about me! Love the “fringe” as you call it (we use another word that doesn’t translate well from North American English to other English speakers in the world. What looks best is the HUGE SMILE!

    You look absolutely wonderful!

    1. Yep, I’m loving the fringe too, Lilli, but oh, that smile! So gorgeous!

I’d love to get into wearing more of my 40’s and 50’s outfits on a regular basis, rather than just keeping them for a special occasion. Also, I am going to the gym! so I hope that is creating a new look!

  2. LOVE!! You look stunning. You have amazing hair no matter what, but you do look especially lovely with bangs (the US name for fringe). And the sunny outfit is fantastic, too!

  3. Love the fringe and the pattern mixing and the silhouette. It’s a great look!

We’re heading into fall here and I am looking forward to being able to bring scarves back! I really made a huge shift in my wardrobe last year and started wearing dresses, skirts, and lots of prints after years of wearing mostly jeans and tshirts. It’s been wonderful to read your blog for inspiration. But over the summer, I’ve found myself either in sundresses or just capris and tees because the weather is too hot for layers. My style depends on my cardigans and scarves, it seems, so I am excited to be able to add them back in and feel more like me again, especially as I’ve added new items to my closet as I’ve thrifted over the summer. I have a few dresses that are just dying for boots and tights and a sassy scarf!

  4. Hi Lilli! I am a medical student from the US and I wanted to tell you how your blog is such a bright spot in my day. I have spent the last few years studying, studying, studying and really lost a lot of myself. I love hair and makeup and unique clothing items…and for the last few years I have been pretty much exclusively wearing scrubs… with Crocs…with my hair back (I know).

I stumbled across your blog when I was looking at Chie Mihara shoes….and it’s just fun. Your blog is actually the first I have followed and it makes me wonder what else I have been missing out on! Love this outfit and look forward to many more 🙂

  5. Hi there. I have just stumbled onto your blog by chance and am inspired. I love the fact you are not afraid to mix and match colours, patterns and styles. I will be stealing a few of your ideas to refresh my wardrobe. Look forward to reading your next post and photos. Ps the hair is great. I would love to get this kind of style but alas a curly fro does not make a great fringe/bang!

  6. Dear Lili

    I love this outfit !
And I have to thank you bécasse you gave me the courage to wear a dress to go to work today. This is the first Time in years ….I’m not lying…
It’s Still summer in Paris so I wear it without tights and I have legs and knees naked … This is big and new for me … I hope I’ll survive to this long day !

  7. Yay! I’m so glad. You always look lovely, but today’s post I noticed your smile, which I was so glad to see back. I’ve been contemplating fringe/bangs for the first time in nearly 20 years, and of course now I’m seeing faces I admire wearing them… I may have to give in! Like another commenter, I too find your blog to be a bright spot in my day, and I have, from reading your posts, grown the courage to wear skirts (after years and years of jeans, only jeans!). Not only wear them, but sew them myself! So thank you. I’m looking forward to autumn up here in the northern hemisphere, with tights and skirts, and maybe a fringe of my own?

  8. So jealous of your fringe. I have 2 cowlicks in my fringe area so spent so mush childhood time getting told off for messy hair that I don’t dare go back now. I love the way a heavy fringe looks though.
