Vote #1 Lilli and Mae!

Dress: Leona By Leona Edmiston (via Myer)

Cardigan: Cocolatte

Shoes: Milu

This pretty little daisy print number is from Leona Edmiston’s exclusive line for Myer. I’m going to be honest here, the quality’s not a patch on the regular Leona Edmiston clothing; the jersey’s already fluffing and pilling where it rubs against other items of clothing, and I’ve only worn it twice! But the fit’s good, the style’s lovely, and the print’s pretty cute too. Plus, it was much cheaper than the usual LE lines, so perhaps it’s a case of “you get what you paid for”.

It’s sleeveless, and will be excellent in summer, but it’s cold again in Melbourne at the moment, so I’m taking advantage of my bright yellow cardigan and shoes to pick out the yellow details in the daisies.

Meanwhile, today I discovered something really lovely.

One of my readers nominated me for the Navabi Curvy Blog Award!

This amazing competition is being run until the 30th of November, and the winner will be treated to London Fashion Week trip with a friend…. or a sister.

(This is where I start twisting your arm:)

My little sister, Mae, has never been overseas and one of her lifelong dreams is to see squirrels. One of MY lifelong dreams is to see plus size fashion not only embraced, but absorbed into the general fashion world, and Navabi’s been at the forefront of that. They’ve got a fabulous online boutique with serious designer names like Elena Miro, Robert Cavalli and Anna Scholz and they run a great magazine featuring plus size fashion spreads (where the models are actually CLOTHED! Amaze!)

Both squirrels, and Plus Size fashion are in London in February next year, and with your help (and hopefully if Mae’s chemotherapy schedule allows for it) so could my sister and I be.

I would love to take her.

And I would love to bring you back the exciting new things happening in the fashion industry on the other side of the world.

Would you vote for me? Please? You don’t have to do anything dodgy like give them your email address, or “like” them on Facebook. I’m number 190. All you have to do is click.

  1. Voted- would be great if you won and you guys could go visit London…..I figure the top vote score at the moment is about 119…!

  2. Anything for a fellow squirrel lover! My husband also had a life long ambition of seeing a real live squirrel, unfortunately he didn’t make it…..

Love your blog, I hope you win!

    Best of luck

    Julie

  3. Done like a bun! (I would have done so anyway, as yours is one of my favourite blogs, but triply, quadruply so now). Would be wonderful if you guys could come to London – in February the weather will be crisp, snowdrops will be peeking out and daffodils about to bloom. And the squirrels will be dozy and hungry and looking for nibbles from nice sisters! x

  4. Do you mean you do not have squirrels, in the land down under? Consider my mind blown. We have a surplus here in the States, I could send you some.

I voted for you. Good luck!

  5. I love your bright pops of yellow with the very cute and flattering dress.

I’m waiting for my apple pin, and I’m voting for you, both for the squirrels and because I think you are an amazing blogger. I don’t even think of you as plus-sized, I just think of you as beautiful.

OMG, I wish I could mail Mae a squirrel. We have TONS in Southern USA 😛

    1. Thanks so much, Lynne, and thanks for the link-back, too! Squirrels are the cutest – If I can’t get Mae to London, I may take her to the States next time we go back to visit The Sophisticate’s family 🙂

    1. Thank you, Brenda! And thanks for your email too, which I just realised I haven’t replied to yet! I tracked you down – for some weird reason your comments were going into the “spam” queue, but I’ve fixed that now 🙂

  6. Oh bother. I’d already voted a few weeks ago and I swear I didn’t see your URL… no matter, I shall find another IP address from which to cast a sneaky extra vote.

  7. I voted for you! I recently hung out with our mutual friend, Adele, in St. Louis and she had nothing but great things to say about you. I love your outfit in this photo and your style! You’re gorgeous!

Here’s to fashion and squirrels in London next year! Also — Adele saw squirrels in St. Louis and took photos of them and I may have made fun of her. 😉

    Good luck!

    1. I’ve heard a lot about you, Carillya! Adele so lovely, I hope you had fun with her 🙂
BTW, I took photos of squirrels when I was in San Francisco, and some locals laughed at me. But they’re amazing. Seriously. We’ve got possums, and they’re OK, but squirrels? Definitely photo-worthy 😉
      Thanks for voting, too!

  8. Voted, and got my husband and mum to vote too! I really hope you win, the experience would be awesome – and all the blog posts too!

Having a family member also go through bowel cancer, I am sending nothing but good thoughts to Mae and your family.

    x

  9. Voted. Best of luck! Love the dress by the way and found out that Leona also has a plus size range in Myer. Going to check it out soon.

  10. Voted

I hope that you and Mae get to go …. I’m sure it would be a nice thing for her to look forward to

Hope she’s ok at the moment

    Anne

    1. Hi Anne,
Yep, she’s about a third of a way through her chemo program, but on her off-weeks she’s still well enough to travel, and came down to Melbourne to have a look at wedding dresses with me. Was a wonderful day 🙂
Thanks so much for voting 🙂

  11. Voted … Go Lillie I love your blog and I am heartbroken for you Mae . Fingers crossed and toes crossed. I look forward to a post with squirrels and smiles xoxoxoxo xoxoxoxo Margie

  12. I’ve never commented on your blog before, but I am a long-time reader, and I just wanted to let you know that I voted for you. Best of luck, and I hope you win! Xx

  13. Voted. Fingers crossed for you both.

Also, I ADORE Leona Plus. At last count I owned seven of the dresses from that range … which includes my wedding dress.

(True story: on my first shopping attempt, nine months before the wedding, I went to Myer by myself, immediately found perfect Leona Plus purple dress, took it to the checkout and discovered it was on sale. It was one of the greatest and lowest-stress shopping experiences of my life.)

Like you, I’ve found the quality a little variable – six of the seven dresses look exactly as they did when I first bought them, even though I wear each one at least once a fortnight, but the other one pilled irretrievably on the first wear. The fabric on some of them gets a bit static-y, as well.

I dearly wish it was possible to view the styles online, as you can with their other lines – even on the Myer website would be better than nothing. (If this exists, I haven’t found it yet!)

    But yes, hooray for Leona.

  14. Good Luck! Your votes are tallying up nicely! I have just returned from a trip to London and I can’t tell you how exciting it is going into regular high street shops where the sizes go up to 18/20 without having to go to specialty ‘plus size’ shops. I had a ball and I hope you get to too 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’m amazed by how generous everyone’s been clicking through to vote for me. Seriously, you guys are the best. And I LOVE that so many of the high street brands in the UK cater above a size 14 – wish Australia would catch up!

  15. Voted! I have a cocolatte cardigan and found that it peels to darn easily! Do you have any tips on how you get rid of them or prevent them?

    Thank you!

  16. Voted 🙂 I see you are doing very well! Keeping my fingers crossed for you & Mae.

BTW I’m loving the navy dress with the yellow accents – you look fab as always, Lilli.

  17. I voted 🙂 And I snuck to Myer Perth today as I have been enviously looking at the Leona dresses anyway – and THEY WERE HAVING A HUGE SALE!!!! I love my new dress from the Leona range and the Leona Ruby bird one I have been looking for was ridiculously discounted but none in my size in WA so I’m about to have a browse online 🙂

  18. As a long-time reader of your blog, of course I’d be more than happy to vote for you!!!
I want to thank-you for giving me so much fashion inspiration and courage to try different things-“things plus-size girls shouldn’t wear”. I have gained so much more confidence just from reading your blog. I cannot thank-you enough!!!!
Good luck with the competition, I really hope you and your sister get to London 🙂

  19. Voted! (Twice – one from personal laptop, one from uni computer. Might try another from my iPad as well.) Looks like you’re killing it! I hope you win and get to enjoy lovely London with your obviously beloved sister.
