A Truth Universally Acknowledged

ย Dress: Harlow

Blouse: Princess Highway

Cardigan: Glassons

Tights: Uniqlo

Boots: Aerosoles

Layers upon layers upon layers. I’m pleased to discover that some of the “winter” (ha!) dresses that I naively thought would tide me over in New York are actually somewhat functional, as long as I wear seventeen layers of undergarments and my big jacket over the top.

This blouse from Princess Highway has been a particular lifesaver when teamed with frocks, as the peter pan collar sits really prettily over the top of the scooped neckline of my Greatest Love of All dress from Harlow.

The sleeves are a little longer than those on the dress, but the russet cardigan hides the extra cuffs.ย A wooden cameo brooch featuring Jane Austen’s profile adds a little whimsy, and I’m ready to go!

I hope everyone had a good New Year’s. Due to New York’s “heatwave” I missed out on my white Christmas (boo) but we got an absolute dumping last night, which I’m still a bit bewitched by.

  1. Where did you get the Austen brooch?!? I absolutely love it!
P.S. I hope you can stay nice and toasty ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Just wait!! There’s more coming your way!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think you look lovely, and second the love of the brooch. I can never seem to wear pins. I put them on. I move them. I move them again. I move them again. Then I take them off. I do have a small collection, though, and I have to say they were mostly inspired by you!

  3. I spent three months NYC at the beginning of 2013 due to my husband’s job, and, like you, naively thought my Aussie winter frocks from Dangerfield plus a puffer coat from Witchery and a cute beanie would suffice.

    Ha! Hahaha!

You poor chook, bunker down and stay warm… I’ve seen pics from friends in Brooklyn and the snow is astonishing.

PS Best of luck finding real coffee!
