Just a quickie, late on a Mondayย night before I put myself to bed!
I ordered this Midi Floral Skirt from Asosย in the sales a couple of weeks ago, because I loved the full blown roses print and thought there was plenty of items in my closet it would go with.
I sized down, assuming that as it was a pull-on style it would probably be a similar fit to the recent scuba skirts that have been cropping up. The fabric’s a reasonably thin jersey, and that means there’s not as much volume as there would have been with a stiffer fabric, but the skirt’s a full circle so there’s still a lot of flare around the hips.
I love the combination of florals and stripes, and it’s something I’m seeing more and more of on blogs and in magazines. The stripes seem to lift an old-fashioned floral print into something a little more contemporary, where the florals pretty-up the minimalist simplicity of a nautical top.
I suspect this particular top is too loose for this outfit to be 100% successful, and the long sleeves create too even a balance between the two prints. In summer I’ll team the skirt with a closer fitting top that allows the rosy fabric to sing, without overwhelming it.
But of course, it’s winter, and it’s freezing, so this is what you get for now!
And you smiled again! ๐
๐ I’m definitely getting there! Thanks Tiya!
Gorgeous! Just the second I saw your post for this skirt on Facebook, I also ordered the skirt. Okay, to be honest, I ordered both the black and the white one – in two different sizes… What should I say, both sizes fit and I couldn’t decide which color I love more so I kept them both. I also paired the (black) skirt with a striped shirt and loved it. It’s summer here and the skirt is perfect for dancing through the day. Because what else should you do with a full circle skirt with rose print???!!! Thank you Lilli for that fabulous shopping advice ๐
Yay! I had the hardest time deciding between the two two, Ute! How’re you finding the black version?
I like the black one because I could pair it with a black shirt (And I have tons of black shirts…). The white one is more summer though. As you’ve said, very hard decision ๐
Cute as a button. I agree about the shirt fit though.
Thanks Jamile! I’m actually tented to go back to the shop and buy it again in a smaller size. They were pretty cheap. It’s one of those cheapie straight-size stores and I didn’t expect their Large to be so… large!
I LOVE the outfit – I’m a big fan of stripes and florals together. The top is a little loose, but it sort of makes it look like you’re tiny little adorable munchkin (“my clothes are too big because I’m so cute and little!”) Your skin looks absolutely flawless, perfect, and glowing. Whatever lip product you are using is fabulous. I’m interested in a make-up tutorial, if you’re willing! xo
Hi Christie! I’m the world’s worst makeup person, I swear! Any tutorial would be “so dab this here then smear it around, and then, um. When it looks right, stop”!
I use a BB cream (Missha Signature #23), a bit of blush (NARS Orgasm) and the lips are a tinted lip balm (Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Kiss). Lazy, lazy, lazy!
Loving the outfit! Also loving the lipstick! What is it?
I think it’s actually just Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Kiss. A tinted lip balm!
I adore this gorgeous floral skirt in beautiful brights and it does look gorgeous with stripes! Will be perfect in Summer!
I know! I can’t wait til the weather warms up just a tad. Not hot! Just… warmer.
Gorgeous skirt – it looks lovely on you with the stripes, Lilli.
And yay to seeing you smile again ๐
Thanks Jo ๐ It’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it?
Lovely to have a pop of summer colour in winter. Gorgeous.
It is, isn’t it Catherine? I have to admit I was pretty cold though! Pantyhose don’t do much to keep the chill out!
Great skirt and great belt!
Thanks Catherine!
Oh I love this! I am obsessed with stripes, and teaming stripes with flowers seems like a good way to break out of my stripes only ethos. And yes, seeing you smile is wonderful, bc it means you *feel* like smiling. Hooray hooray hooray! ????
Oh, that’s such a lovely outfit! I like the skirt a lot!
Lily, your smile breaks through like sunshine! That makes me smile, too. Regards and prayers for you and yours from Arizona, USA -:) Edith
Sorry for my silly spelling challenges, Lilli! You’re the only Lilli I’ve ever been acquainted with (if even only online)!
