Whale of a Time

Frocks and Frou Frou Frocks and Frou Frou Frocks and Frou FrouTee: Sin Clothing

Skirt: Modcloth

Shoes: Chie Mihara

Gosh, didn’t that weekend fly past? I had a lovely relaxed one; mooching about, sleeping in, doing a bit of housework and a bit of crafting. It’s always good to spend the first weekend after the first week back cruising, don’t you think?

Despite the black/grey/neutral palettes that have been trending on the blog lately, I’ve been wearing the hell out of this rust-coloured skirt from Modcloth. Today’s the first time I’ve tried teaming it with this stripey tee, which has been languishing at the bottom of a drawer for so long I (oops) kind of forgot I owned it.

I bought it a few years ago at one of the Queen Victoria Night Markets, but I’m pleased to say it’s also available on Etsy. It’s only available in one size, but it’s supposed to be fairly loose-fitting, so fortunately it fits The Rack of Doom easily.

Frocks and Frou FrouThe stripes are kind of roughly screenprinted, giving the top a nice home-made feel, and I totally love the little whale who’s -improbably – spouting scattered stars from his blow hole.

  1. Lovely outfit! I really like the combination of blue and rust, which I wouldn’t have thought of. And the star-blowing whale is gorgeous 🙂

  2. Here’s a geeky housewife solution for your forgot-i-owned-this-shirt-problem: instead of piling shirts and the like horizontally you can also arrange them vertically so that you get a nice overview of what’s in the drawer. You need to fold your shirts a little differently so that they fit the height (or depth?) of the drawer but it works like a charm! And it looks neat when in fact you’re not the neatest person on earth…I know what I’m talking about.

  3. I love everything about this outfit!

I think I remember you saying something about it when you got your hair cut in this style, but what did you ask your hairdresser to do? I’ve been growing out my bangs and thinking of growing it all out long, but my hair is so fine I’m always looking for shorter styles to give it more body, and yours is so cute!

Also, the tip from Viviane above is aces. I do this with my six year old’s clothes; for mine, I have open shelving in my closet. It makes it way easier to not wear the same thing over and over.

  4. Hi there, first time on your blog.
You are beautiful and have the most amazing style!! Will def be shopping most of your outfits.
