Remix Me Monday: Where’s Lilli?

Jeans: Embody Denim
Belt: Jag
Shoes: Rocket Dog
OK, so here’s a remix so easy that anyone who can thread a needle should be able to manage.
I really love my wide-leg Embody jeans, but they really do look their best fresh off the ironing board with a knife edge pleat down the front.
Two problems: I hate ironing, and knife edge pleats in denim only seem to last two and a half minutes before magically disappearing.
Over the weekend I was browsing Ezibuy and came across these jeans and they gave me an idea for creating a permanent pleat down the front of the jeans.
Sew one.
It’s astoundingly easy. Simply iron a sharp pleat down the front of the jeans, then over the next two and a half minutes sew a seam as close to the pleat edge as possible.
Instant and permanent pleat.
Incidentally, does my outfit look familiar? It occurred to me about ten minutes after I left the house:
Where’s Wally/Waldo, anyone?

  1. You look so damn cute in stripes, Lilli. It kills me every time. And I was on Smith St today and ran out of time to get myself the twin of your neckerchief, as it’s the greatest thing in existence. Gah! I did get a vegan brownie, though. Nom nom nom.

(P.S. You don’t look like Wally at all, but if you ever start to walk with a limp and reach for a cane, I’d reconsider.)

  2. Haa haa, I’m still laughing at the Waldo reference. I love Wally!

I used to have jeans just like you described. I won’t admit it was back in the 80’s though.

I remember the day I wore hole through the thigh. I had them so long it must have been in the 90’s *LOL*

Lili, speaking of remixing, I had a thought. You know your sweet as ribbon you put on your Tiffany blue cardi? Why don’t you make those appliques and sell them .. to ME (and of course a dozen others who’d want them). You can have your own Esty store!

  3. What a great idea! I’m constantly disappointed by how easily the pleat wears out of my trouser jeans– I’ll have to give this a try. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Hello Lilli,
I love stripes and the flowered neckerchief… I will try this association very soon ,-)
I don’t know who is Wally Waldo but I guess he is a kind of clown ?…

  5. i’d like to see this with a ruffled dark red blouse or something with a little structure or detail to match the crispness of the scarf, belt and jeans pleat.

there is a french girl at a fair look to the outfit except for the top — art that conceals art.

  6. Love the top, Lilli! So much so that I actually have one myself!! I wear it with a black pinafore, opaques and Duo Sicily boots. I thought I looked wonderful and french, until someone made the same “Where’s Wally?” joke to me as well… Hmmm… I think I like the top enough to continue wearing it depite the criticism! (p.s. the person who made the joke has limited fashion nouse so I don’t feel as bad)…

  7. Lilli, I love all your outfits!
I found you because you’re diva of the week on the diva look book and I’ve been checking your blog every day every since.

Your style and cuteness give me so much inspiration and put a big smile on my face! ^_^

  8. Thanks everyone!

Decorah-Lee: that’s cute idea! I’ll have to have a look at making some iron-on ribbon patches to order – anyone have any holey cardigans they need remixed?

Singapore Sling, Where’s Wally is the character from a series of kids books. He’s called Waldo in America http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where's_Waldo%3F

I love the idea of teaming this with a ruffled red blouse, Anon – I’ll have to see if I can find one!

Thanks so much, Lesa! That’s really nice of you!

  9. Thank you Lilli !
In France Where’s Wally is “OΓΉ est Charlie ?”. I now see what you mean πŸ˜‰

  10. Oh I love that, Singapore Sling. He’s called lots of different things around the world – In India he’s apparently called Rajimapoo, which is probably my favourite!
