I’m sure it comes as no surprise to discover that here at Chez Lillipilli it’s all about comfort. I don’t like “support garments”, I don’t believe in slimming pantihose, and nine times out of ten I’ll wear flats over heels.
A few months ago a girlfriend of mine introduced me to a particular shoe designer “Chie Mihara” whose speciality isn’t simply classic, almost retro looking footwear, but shoes that are designed for comfort.
Chie set up her own footwear brand after having worked at an orthopaedic shoe store learning about foot anatomy and common foot problems. All her shoes are made with an anatomical footbed designed specifically to accommodate a woman’s foot. She says (rightly so!) that all women are workers and that while we want to look “feminine, beautiful and attractive” we shouldn’t have to sacrifice comfort to do so.
This video gives you a bit of an idea as to her philosophy, and you can all “aww” over her adorable accent, too:
Now, I can vouch for both the extremely comfortable comfortableness of these shoes, and the frightening price tag (you’re looking at several hundred dollars a pair. On sale) but here’s my secret. eBay. Keep your eyes peeled, because they pop up all the time, and instead of spending five times what you’d normally pay for a pair of shoes, you can pay what you’d normally spend for a pair five times as good.
Wow, great shoes, love that brooch!

Do these shoes run true to size?
They are so cute. Finally someone realises cute + comfort = winner!
Chie Mihara is my favorite shoe designer, hands down! Her designs are so feminine and beautiful and whimsical at the same time. *And* comfortable, it's incredible. I actually just ran a short post on her upcoming fall collection, which looks kind of amazing. If they cost a little less and if it were easier to find my size (a dreaded 41/42) I would own so many more than I do currently do! The ones you have are lovely btw 🙂
Holy cow I love those shoes and am trying to figure out a way to get another job so I can buy a pair.
That little brooch is the biz. It sets your outfit off beautifully. And oh, how I wish I had money to spend on shoes. Sigh.
Cute shoes!
Oh, congrats by the way – I opened up Mamamia today and there you were!
I've heard lots of good stuff about Chie and I'm on the hunt for those beautiful blue ones you are wearing!
Congrats on your article in Mamamia.
Oh, oh, oh my god, those turquoise ones…and the brown ones, they are gorgeous!! And to hear they are comfy too, that's even better!! I'm like you, I don't do uncomfortable, but they are seriously lovely!
Those are some truly fabulous shoes!:)
These shoes really seem comfortable.
And what is that turquoise!!!
I'll see the website!!!
Kisses from Brazil!
P.S. thanks!

The shoes look great. How have you found the chie mihara sizing?
Love so much your shoes..
Gah, I love this outfit! The brooch and the shoes totally pull it together. '30s fabulous.
Hi all! Thanks for the comments!
For those of you wondering about size, I've found them very true to size. They're a wider fit, which suits me quite well, because I have wider feet, too 🙂
Aaargh… the shoes are so cute!

Chie's are the one shoe line I will really splurge on because they're beautifully made and REALLY comfortable. I just saw a bunch of new styles for fall and am saving, saving, saving for this pair. Cute!!!!! (I just hope Ped still has my size when I'm ready to write the check—I've noticed the Chie's tend to fly fast. No surprise there.) My size is too common, unfortunately, to ever land anything on eBay (wah wah).
