So, having to backdate this because yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind and also, this one is a bit of a stretch on the Me Made front, since it’s actually a remixed RTW dress that I bought from Doops Designs.
I’ve had my heart set on a Doops Designs confetti dress for well over a year now, but constantly baulked at the not-insubstantial price tag. A couple of months ago I decided to finally bite the bullet, and I loved it for all the, oh, one wears that I got out of it before I popped it in the wash and shrank to be shorter than my knees.
This, for those new to the blog, is a deeply no-go zone for me (Yes, I have been told my knees are fine, but I don’t like them, and I never have, and that’s that I’m afraid. I’m all for body-pos, but I’m even more for not wearing things that make you feel uncomfortable or self-conscious).
I railed for a bit at the unfairness of my already overpriced dress becoming almost instantly unwearable, then I thought about it a bit longer, lopped the hem off the dress and turned it into a cute tee-shirt.
Fortunately my emergency dress surgery resulted in enough excess fabric that I was able to make a pair of leggings for the second Me Made of the day…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE E! I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since this beautiful little soul arrived. It feels like it’s been forever and the blink of an eye simultaneously.
So the good news about today’s “make” is that if you don’t sew you can buy the (admittedly overpriced) t-shirt here, and if you DO sew you can buy the fabric here. Make sure you wash it before you sew though!
Happy birthday E. You look gorgeous just like your Mumma!
