Green is Good

Cardigan: Friends of Couture

Blouse: Events

Skirt: Target

Tights: Voodoo

Shoes: Wittner

A while back when I was looking for ways to wear the Peplum Top that Jessica at Eliza Parker sent me to try I realised that I didn’t actually own a black pencil skirt. I had the dotty ruffle-backed skirt from Portmans that I ended up wearing that day, but thought that it was a ridiculous oversight that must be corrected.

Fortunately, Target – who are always a safe bet for basics – was having a 20% off all Women’s Clothing sale last week, and I managed to pick up this ponti-fabric pencil skirt for a song.

It looks very classy with a blouse and cardigan, and printed polkadot tights for a bit of fun.

I didn’t want to button the cardigan all the way up, but it was too green (green is good. Too much green, not so good) and I couldn’t get it to stay buttoned with only one, so I pinned it with a little ribbon bow brooch.

  1. Hi

I adore that cardigan- I’ve been on the lookout for it forever. What size do you wear if you dont mind me asking?

    1. I wear the largest size at Friends of Couture – a 14 or an XL. Sometimes they have a bit more room than others. This one buttons up, but a lot of them don’t 🙁

  2. This is so posh Lilli. I just came across this dressing “tip” at Lifestyle You website (apparently from the famous Trinny and Sussanah) that we must not wear colours with black as it looks cheap. To some extent I agree, because I have this magenta top from Target and it looks fab with my chocolate brown pants (Forver 21), but looks really cheap with black pants (Katies). This green however is perfect with black and the cream top you are wearing 🙂

  3. I absolutely love your bow cardigan! And the bow brooch is super cute and totally fits with everythign! Ohhh these are super cute and reminds me of Rachel Berry from Glee. 🙂

  4. I love this look– I think the brooch is what pulls it all together. I looked at it for a second before I realized that it looks like it was made for the outfit b/c of the beige on beige effect. The color of the pin seems to work w/ the color of the trim of your cute green sweater!

I hope you’ll do a post on your closet one day soon b/c you seem to have a knack for accessorizing that tells me you always know where your gems are. Having things easily accessible probably makes you 110% more likely to discover unlikely combinations!

    ANYWAYssss… beautiful!

  5. hi, I love that cardigan but I can’t find it anywhere 🙁 Did you buy it recently? I’ve looked everywhere for it as it’s the exact shade of green I want!

  6. you know, being a lovely round girl, I always thought I should stay away from belts. You look so ovely in them…perhaps I should give them a go?
