Eenie Midi Mini Mo

Top: Inspyre at Harris Scarfe

Skirt: Thrifted

Belt: Target

Shoes: Chie Mihara

Hemlimes, for me, are problematic. Especially extrteme hemlines. I’m shy about my knees, so I avoid mini-skirts like the plague (plus it’s hard to hide your Luvees under). I’m also not a tall person, so maxi-skirts make me look as wide as I am tall, so I tend to steer away from those, too. This season I’m having a bit of a Goldilocks moment though because – wait for it – midi skirts are finally in vogue.

Not too long and not too short, but seemingly impossible to find in plus sizes (especially in Australia, but that might change as the weather gets colder).

I’ve been mooning over the scrumptious Ulrika at Red Rosette who rocks a midi skirt like nobody’s business, but most of her wardrobe seems to come from Topshop or Miss Selfridge, neither of whom go up to my size. Instead I scoured the thrift shops to find this one.

I say “scoured”, but actually it was very easy: I found this for just $6 at the first charity shop I went into.

I teamed it with a darker blouse (still not convinced about that, actually) and some neutral accessories; A brown belt, brown shoes, and wooden brooch and earrings to play up that 70’s nature-child vibe.

Brooch: Gifted By Fiona

Earrings: CatRabbit

P.S. Fiona, Elroy & The Sophisticate’s fifth “Remote Viewing” podcast is up as of today! Due to popular demand they’ll be recording weekly from now on which is very exciting, so go have a listen. The Sophisticate’s the one with the sexy voice 😉

  1. I am also a big fan of mid-length hem lines, I loathe my knees but I am too short for maxi dresses! Yay for midi skirts! What a great find, $6 is awesome!! And I love it with the darker blouse and the brooch xxx

  2. I wore a beautifully patterned 80s midi skirt for a while a few years ago, and paired with my old Dolly Parton tan boots (that my dog ate, so I had to end the whole look) made me feel very ‘Art Teacher’.

You look gorgeous as usual in this cheapie cheap find! xoxo

  3. I love the blouse. And i am searching for a blouse like this since weeks now *uff*

the midi look is great for you. i like the combination.

  4. Gorgeous! A beautiful autumn-coloured floral print top would be cute with that skirt too.

I like how that hemline looks on other people but I am very dubious as to whether it would work on me. I’m 155cm and it seems like, sadly, it’s yet another trend I am going to have pass on due to my height.

  5. Love this outfit! The mid-length looks great on you with this outfit. I have always been a little uncertain about it, but if I could look like that… I think I need to go on a search for one!

  6. Excuse me I think you will find it is *I* with the sexy voice. Our fan has spoken.

Otherwise, awesome outfit as always! Perhaps we should hit Savers for some more skirty goodness…?

  7. honey, just tell me what size i should look for 😉 and measurments, preferably in cm 😉
I will hunt for you 🙂

      1. i’ll go hunting this saturday, i hope 😀 so you know 😉 😀 measurments please! 😀

  8. I love love love that blouse, but I’m afraid I’m not a fan of the outfit. I can’t really come at black and brown, unless it is a camel colour, and I fear the skirt may be a little bit too much on the nanna side, predominantly because of the buttons and the volume: pencil and full skirts are good in midi lengths, but I’m not a fan of the in-between. A bit more puff and the skirt would be great!

    *prepares to get flamed…*

  9. I too LOVE that blouse! Being well endowed I have avoided this style like the plague but you’re rocking it, so may give it a try myself!
