This Gorman skirt is one of those items in my wardrobe that doesn’t get a huge amount of air-time on the blog because it’s such a statement piece.

I remixed it from a too-small dress a few years ago, and the result’s a lovely silk skirt in russetty burnt orange, with mustard bunting flags and a navy hem. For someone like me who likes a bit of the matchy-matchy those three colours gives a good scope to play with.

For my first Two-Ways outfit I made it a little more formal by teaming it navy opaque tights from Sonsee (They’re a 60 denier, so just a hint of skin through the fabric) with a buttoned-up cashmere cardigan. I’ve sewn the cardigan closed, as I tend to wear this one as a layering sweater most often. It gives the cardigan a lean line and prevents gaping between the buttons.

A belt right at the waist gives a good shape, while also making sure my proportions aren’t thrown out by the hip-length cardigan. The golden brown of the belt is echoed by the hue of the skirt, and the floral motif on the buckle provides a nice contrast to the geometric triangles on the hem.

For my second Two-Ways outfit I dressed the skirt down with a slouchy t-shirt from Dream Diva and another cashmere cardigan from Boden.

I’m still playing with the same colour palette: navy, mustard and rust but the whole effect is a lot looser and more casual.

The bare legs, and the pale yellow cardigan lighten the look, as does the light catching the spangly sequinned heart on the t-shirt.

And, um, yeah. The hair’s gone! I finally took the plunge and went got the crop! No more hair tutorials for a while, but I think I need to start buying some cute headbands.

  1. I LOVE this skirt and I’m happy to see it here AGAIN! The new hair cut is so cute, but you always look gorgeous!

  2. OH MAN I love that skirt! Your new hairdo looks fab. I got a pixie cut a couple years back and I have loved it ever since, so I hope you love yours as much!

  3. This skirt is always a winner – it’s so beautiful and you always style it so well! And that cut is *divine* on you!! I highly encourage headbands & fun sparkly barrettes in shorter hair. You look gorgeous!

      1. Sometimes I just pinned sparkly brooches to existing headbands & that worked great! Target was a great source, & craft stores (Joann’s, Michaels here in the U.S.) have sections with cute make-your-own headband areas. Super cheap & customizable!! I also sewed some felt to hair clips to make cute flower barrettes!

  4. You look fabulous darling! the skirt brings you out a lot! Both outfits are an A+ and that sequin shirt….I don’t know but i have a total weakness to sequin maybe its my inner Judy Garland and her ruby slipper love, to me it makes the outfit! as always you look divine!

  5. Your hair looks fabulous! Makes me want to get the chop myself. Did you go to your Hairy Godmother?

  6. I love the sparkly t-shirt – and Girl! YOUR HAIR! I LOVE IT!

Any chance we can see how the back was cut? Not that I’m looking for ideas, or anything…nope. Not at all.

(Currently, my hair is half-way down my back, and I’m trying to wait as long as possible before I cut it off. I’ll be donating it to an organization called ‘Wigs For Kids’ – already donated to ‘Locks of Love’ 2x in the past.)

    1. LOL, yes, definitely! I’ll take some pics and do a proper post soon! How lovely of you to donate to Wigs for Kids – I’ll have to keep that in mind for next time!

  7. I love the new haircut! It really suits you. You look absolutely gorgeous. The skirt seems to be quite tricky to pair up with (I would definitely fail the challenge), but I like both versions. It’s very versatile, indeed!

  8. Especially love the colours in your second outfit and your hair looks gorgeous (oh how I wish I had straighter hair!)

  9. GORGEOUS!!! LOVE ALL OF IT!!!! Great hair too!! p.s. I received my order from Hope & Harvest after your last post, and LOVE the eternity dress. Will email pic. Let the H&H girls know that I purchased from them after seeing your post.

  10. Hair! As a short hair aficionado myself, I definitely approve! It gives you a more glamorous edge, lending that tiny bit of quirkiness at the same time. Bravo to the chop! (outfit is lovely too)
