May(de): Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Cardigan: Remixed

Blouse: Dorothy Perkins

Skirt: Target

Tights: Sussan

Shoes: Wittner

Lol, you’re seeing a lot of this blouse, huh? I love the scalloped peter pan collar, it’s ultra-cute and perfect for layering. I bought it a size smaller than usual, then sewed up the front so that the buttons didn’t gape. I do this a lot with button-up blouses, as they always seem to be either boxy and shapeless, or gapey around the bust.

I’m wearing it with one of my all-time favourite cardigans, which has had several different incarnations since I first bought it.

It’s the first cashmere item I ever bought myself – it was seriously on sale from 8Inkerman (now Eugenie Cashmere) and it was the most perfect tiffany blue, and SO soft. As soon as I got it home I replaced the plain buttons with sparkly little rhinestone numbers.

A year or so later I discovered that Baby Suki had been using it as a jungle gym and had managed to snag a hole in the bust. Instead of throwing it out I appliqued a ribbon over the top of the hole. It’s made the cardigan considerably less versatile, but it’s still the most buttery soft thing I’ve ever worn.

  1. I adore that cardigan. What a great way to save something that have been “cat designed”. The husband has a t-shirt we patched for that every same reason after the cat used it as a clawing post!

I LOVE the fact you are blogging every day 🙂

  2. I looooove that cardi in all its reincarnations! Looks lovely with this skirt and tights/shoes-lovely shape-tried to say lovely silouhette but dont know how to spell to and cant be bothered looking it up!!! Think I may have to follow your lead with the sewing of buttons to prevent indecent gaping or having to wear singlet tops under every shirt!

    1. Oh, I love sewing the front up on my tops. All of my blouses have been sewn up, and it makes such a good (positive) difference to the fit. Just make sure you can pull it on and off with the buttons done up before you sew though!

  3. I’m so sorry for the ridiculous question-but if you sew the front of a blouse, how on earth do you get it on? As a fellow booberella, I just can’t figure it out :/ I’m adoring your blog, have already found so many amazing resources for my shape (and sort of accidentally bought three pairs of shoes).

    1. LOL, no worries at all 🙂
Yeah, I usually just do the wriggle. It makes getting undressed at the end of the day slightly less elegant than otherwise, but at least I’m not flashing my bra all day 😉
