The Sweetest Thing

Dress: Pinup Girl Clothing

Belt: Torrid

Shoes: Zu Shoes

I did end up getting this Pinup Girl Clothing dress hemmed a little shorter from its original mid-calf length. I like it – it’s not quite as over-the-top as it was, but its still long enough to wear my pink Domino Dollhouse petticoat with.

A few of you did ask how the dress looked sans petticoat, so here it is:

Not THAT much difference, actually. I wore it like this during the day, but then came home in the evening and donned the petticoat for a work book launch I was attending forย Phillipa “Queen of Desserts”ย  Sibley‘s first book P.S. Desserts.

  1. Much better hemmed, though I think it looks better without the petticoat. More flattering on the hips. As usual, you always have the cutest shoes.

  2. I didn’t think I would but I prefer it this length – it suits you much better. Its still that 50s/60s length but as you said not so OTT.

Speaking of 50s/60s fashion – have you seen the film The Help? The costumes in it are AMAZING! Its a shame the story isn’t as powerful as the book.

I really need to get back on the blog wagon – I’ve kinda lost my blogging mojo and the dark nights aren’t helping matter.

  3. Lilli, I like this dress with and without the petticoat. There isn’t much difference, like you mention, but I feel it does have a little more “oomph” with it. The floral pattern is just lovely and the belt is the perfect complement. You look, as always, beautiful! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. The new length is perfect! Did you end up taking it in at the bodice/bust? I seem to recall that it was a little loose at the top but it looks gorgeous on you. I think this will be my next PUG purchase hehe.

    Love the belt too!

  5. A much more wearable length I think, it’s more beautiful and less loud. I’m so glad you found someone to go in with on the Torrid shipping because that belt is the BEST! x

  6. Yes, but I bet it FLOUNCES in a lovely way with the petticoat. It looks a lot less different than I thought it would, but I bet you notice it more when you move. And the new length looks fantastic. You have great clothing instincts!
