Oh HAI, Readers!

Your intrepid blogger here, reporting from Sunny, Celebratory (they just won the Baseball World Series, and the city’s going OFF) San Francisco!

The Sophisticate and I have been here for two and a bit days so far, and despite being situated a comfortable walk from Old Navy, Anthropologie, Nordstroms, Anne Taylor, Macy’s, Barney’s, The Gap, Banana Republic, etc etc, I’ve been remarkably restrained.

Together we’ve been doing a lot of sightseeing – thanks to everyone’s suggestions we’ve managed to visit a swathe of recommended hotspots, today those includedย Sian’s and Aristella’s suggestion that I check out the Ferry Building and the cake shop (Miette) inside.

I don’t want to spend too much time sitting on the computer, because we’re running on a terribly tight schedule, but I just wanted to give you all my first dressing-room report: From Bettie Page Clothing in the Haight. I broke my shopping drought there and bought two of the, er, twenty-three thousand dresses I tried on. See if you can guess which ones made the cut!

  1. If you did not buy the first dress with the red stripe top and red skirt, then Lordy. There is nothing worth living for in this world because it looks MADE for you. And RIDICULOUSLY cute.

I can’t pick which other ones may have made the cut, but please assure me you bought the first one! (and if not, please don’t be cross if I buy it for myself!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

    XOXOX

  2. Let me guess, I’ll say you bought the polka dot dress in the 7th picture and the orangey/brown tone dress on the 4th picture but what I am really hoping is that you went for the 5th dress just because grey and pink are awesome together, first red dress and the last dress with the so awesome button arrangement and side pocket.

  3. I hope one of those two was the purple sailor suit one! But all of them are gorgeous & look like they were made for you!

Wonderful to see you having such a good time & thank you for letting us join you on your trip – even if it’s only virtually ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. OOOO! Loved the polka dot cutie & the sienna dress that looks straight off Joan Holloway from Mad Men.
Welcome to the US of A, btw. You are guaranteed to brighten up San Francisco & do consider a Florida visit someday!
    Signed,
    A Former Lurker. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. You look great in them all, Lily. I’m guessing you bought the pumpkin coloured Mad Men-esque one and the purple sailor one – the colour looks divine on you!

Enjoy your time in the good old US of A:)

    • Oops “Lilli”: forgive me – my niece is Lily – I hate getting called Joanne when my name is Joanna so I’m sure you are not a fan of having your name spelt wrongly!)

  6. Please tell me you brought the first red dress. It is gorgeous. The 2nd outfit you night have got was the brown one. Cant wait to find out which you got.

  7. I’m guessing you went for #1 and #7. They are wonderful on you and you should’ve purchased them ๐Ÿ˜€ What fun you must’ve had! Gorgeousness!

  8. Oh lordy that shop looks outstanding – totally just gone right to their site. I love the first one and the last one, but then so many could find their way in to my wardrobe! Not so sure about the drop waist ones though…

  9. Oh my god, if you didn’t buy all of them, I am defriending you from all our social networks. EVEN THE IRL ONES.

Though I am especially fond of the red stripes at the top, and that grey number with the pink buttons. And the orange dress. SIGH.

  10. Yay for being in the city (though San Franciscans are normally more civilized, I promise! I was there for a concert last night and I was a little embarrassed by the total madness going on around me on my way home!) and for Bettie Page! I hope you bought the rusty-colored sheath, the red and white polka dot one, or the pencil skirt, though they are all lovely ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy the rest of your time here!!

  11. Oh my word! You look like you’ve come straight out of Mad Men! So jealous! I’d say the lighter sailor dress and the Joanesque dress.

  12. How on earth did you decide? They are such hotness! I predict your purchases involved polka dots and red and white but would not be surprised if Matt’s suitcase is just full of dresses now!

  13. Oh I love all these dresses, first one, fifith, sixth, and the last red skirt too. You look amazing in the first one and the grey dress..buy all of them except for the sailor ones.

  14. Love all of them but particularly the first one, the navy suit dress and burnt sienna Joan Holloway-Harris…

Glad you are loving San Fran…. Isn’t the Ferry Building lovely? Promise me you’ll get some seasonal Ghiradelli while you are there!

    Kitty xx

  15. You look gorgeous in them all! Can you please link them individually or at least tell us what they are called? The orange/pumpkin/rust/sienna one in particular. The website has some ridiculously skinny model, so you can’t see what the dresses REALLY look like, and it is hard to match the web pictures with your lovely ones.

    Thanks!

  16. I’m loving the coral one and the navy suite so I hope you picked those! However each is unique and fabulous and worthy of you:)

  17. It’s so much fun shopping vicariously through you. I thought you rocked #4, 5 and the last one (though all of them were nice). So, please tell. Which did you end up with?!
