Hullo, hullo!
It’s been a busy few days, with my Mum and Stepdad visiting as part of their grey nomad travels around Australia. The Sophisticate and I joined them down at the family homestead in Leongatha over the weekend, and a good time was had by all, though as usual I ate myself into a food coma.

I’ve come back to a very brisk and busy week in Melbourne. Emphasis on the brisk.

I think this has been one of the cooler winters we’ve had for the last couple of years, and I’m really feeling it. Still, it’s just gone July and it’ll only get warmer from this point (knock wood).

This vest has really lost its shape (and length!) since I first bought it. Considering the exact same thing happened to the grey Target cardigan that I bought a few months ago I can only conclude that Target knitwear is not designed to be machine-washed and tumble-dried. I shall have to try re-blocking the two pieces when wet next time I wash them.

  1. awww so pretty as usual.

It is chilly. I am in the ye olde hills (Dandenong Ranges) and my arms are sticking out from my body because of all the layers. If I add anymore I won't be able to put my arms down.

  2. Good lord, do they SAY they can be tumble-dried? Maybe I'm paranoid, but I won't even wash my stockings on anything more violent than a gentle wool cycle, and I'd never tumble-dry anything knitted. I don't even tumble-dry my tshirts for fear of shrinkage.

Also: I'm fed up with the cold. I was huddled in the corner of my bus shelter this morning to try to get out of the wind. 'Twas awful.

  3. I agree – while Target have upped the ante of late (although we are still not on par with our US friends) their knitwear sucks big time. A couple of washes and its ready for to be relegated to the 'ok for painting the house' pile.

  4. I don't know of ANY knitwear that can be tumbledried. In the knitting and crocheting world, tumbledrying is what you do when you want to felt and shrink garments, even those made with machine washable wool. If Target are saying that you can tumbledry their knitwear, they should be shot!!

Your outfit is lovely. I have severe kilt envy 😉

  5. That skirt (kilt?!) is fantastic — up here it is quite warm but I've made a note of the store and come fall I will be getting one for myself! And the unexpected pairing with polka dots is lovely and whimsical. You look wonderful 🙂
