Where The Wild Things Are

Vest: Target
I had a few appointment cancellations this morning, so getting dressed was a bit more of a leisurely affair than yesterday!
I have such a soft spot for this skirt, but I don’t wear it that often, because it’s such a statement piece.
The illustration on the front (and the back, for that matter) have been done by a very well-known Melbourne Street Artist known as Ghostpatrol, and I just love his work, especially the pieces like this one of feral children. It’s very Where The Wild Things Are.
It’s so cold in Melbourne at the moment. And dreary and grey to boot, so I’m trying really hard to stay warm without having to surrender myself to jeans and great big snuggly sweaters. Today’s pro-tip? Socks!
To be honest I’d actually prefer a really thick pair of ribbed grey stockings, but I can’t find some anywhere. Keep your eyes peeled!

  1. OMG, I LOVE this outfit. The statement skirt is beautiful and perfectly balanced by the Miss Proper top and stockings. You look charming and whimsical and a little bit dazzling.

  2. I misread this post and thought you got I nearly had a heart attack -as well as quickly driving 80km round trip to GET.ONE.NOW.
    great ensemble! You look fab.

  3. I have those socks from Sock Dreams – I love them! I much prefer socks to tights – they always roll down on me and I end up having to wear Bridget Jones pants over my tights to prevent embarrassing situations!

I am also loving your shoes, I notice you have worn them a few times in recent posts – are they new? Comfy?

  4. I love that skirt, the color is beautiful, and the illustration is really neat! The tops and necklace fo great with it too!

  5. Oooh, you've reminded me I cut off some thick ribbed bright blue stockings (took away the annoying tight waistband) to make SOCKS that look just like these… I shall pull them out tomorrow methinks!

  6. Hello! Long-time reader, first time commenting. You are an inspiration! Try Myer in the city (Melb) at the moment for the ribbed stockings.
P.S Seeing your photos in Loni's ruffle front skirt encouraged me to order one finally!

  7. We have grey woolen tights over our way…and ribbed toasty warm cotton ones (i call them sweater tights) – let me know if you want me to send you some (i'm in NZ where it's freezing OF COURSE we have thick ribbed wool tights!)

  8. Great outfit! Looks so warm and cosy for the cold winter we are having! Will keep an eye out for the tights – you never know where you might find them!

  9. Thanks everyone!

Hi kathrynoh, yep, really comfortable – there's a lot of stretch to them!

LOL, Monkey! Yeah, I know the perils of the creeping crotch well! I went through a stage of wearing stay up pantyhose for that very reason, but the only ones that really fit properly are insanely expensive & always seem to ladder on first wearing 🙁

Hi Lauren! Good spotting! I picked up a pair yesterday from the Ambra range. They look pretty good so far – thanks for the tip!

LOL thanks for the offer, teenysparkles! I'll let you know!

  10. this is excellent. SO EXCELLENT. I can't believe I only just found your blog!! I love it ALL!!
For the record, Kids in Berlin sells lovely grey ribbed tights…which I'm wearing right now!!

  11. hi there. I just found your blog this week and I love your style! you have quickly snuck into my favorites. I think I have shared at least 5-6 posts of yours just today in my google reader. 🙂

Oh, and tip on the socks (i work at sock dreams btw) try the extraordinary thigh highs. we just got them in the last month and they are incredible! Seriously, not even cause I work there. they re some of the first long socks that have ever fit me. I have pretty substantial calves and thighs ( i do a lot of their plus size modeling for products) we should be getting some awesome marled long ribbed socks with really good stretch too soon.

Thanks again for the great fashion inspiration! You are too too cute!

  12. Thick ribbed grey stockings: OKOK – sparta place brunswick. They are locally made. They fit a tall/xtall.
OMG I have read your blog for the first time. I LOVE you! Such style! You rock. you will take a spot on my blogroll
